Note: Affiliate members do not need to go through re-admission.

Returning to Professional Membership
You've held Retired Membership continuously and are returning as a Professional Member. The requirements below are set out in the API Member Guideline, clause 4.2.
What you'll need to do
Gained within the past 12 months. You'll upload a CPD record with your application.
As specified in the API CPD Policy at the time of your re-admission. The full set is available on the API compulsory modules page - sign in once you're ready to begin.
Required only if you're seeking the return of a Certification (e.g., RPV, CPV) and you've held Retired Membership for more than five years. If neither condition applies, no Return to Practice Review is required.
This is a structured online conversation. No written reports are required. The conversation is assessed against four criteria:
- Knowledge of valuation and professional standards
- Risk assessment and professional judgement
- Areas of practice and expertise
- Technical application of valuation methodologies
Apply via the online re-admission form. Your application is typically processed within five business days of receipt.
Returning to Professional Membership
Your membership lapsed, you formally resigned, or you currently hold Connect membership - and you'd like to return as a Professional Member. The requirements below are set out in the API Member Guideline, clause 4.1.
What you'll need to do
Gained within the past 12 months. You'll upload a CPD record with your application. If you don't have an active CPD diary, contact membership services for guidance.
As specified in the API CPD Policy at the time of your re-admission. The full set is available on the API compulsory modules page - sign in once you're ready to begin.
Required only if you're seeking the return of a Certification (e.g., RPV, CPV) and you have not been a Professional Member for over three years. If neither condition applies, no Return to Practice Review is required.
This is a structured online conversation. No written reports are required. The conversation is assessed against four criteria:
- Knowledge of valuation and professional standards
- Risk assessment and professional judgement
- Areas of practice and expertise
- Technical application of valuation methodologies

Stepping up to Professional Membership
You're a current MAPI Member moving up to Professional Member level. The requirements below are set out in the API Member Guideline, clause 4.2.
What you'll need to do
Gained within the past 12 months - matching your existing MAPI annual CPD obligation. You'll upload your CPD record from your API portal.
As specified in the API CPD Policy at the time of your re-admission. The full set is available on the API compulsory modules page - sign in once you're ready to begin.
Required only if you're seeking a Certification (e.g., RPV, CPV) and you've held MAPI membership for more than five years. If neither condition applies, no Return to Practice Review is required.

Returning to Professional Membership after Parental Leave
You've held Parental Leave membership continuously for between zero and two years (0-24 months) and are returning to your former membership level - confirmed as Professional Member. This is the smoothest return path: a single requirement, no CPD demonstration, no Return to Practice Review.

You won't need to provide a CPD record covering your leave period.
No CPD catch-up neededApply via the online re-admission form once your Mandatory Modules are complete.
Returning to Professional Membership after extended Parental Leave
You've held Parental Leave membership continuously for between two and six years (25-72 months) and are returning to your former membership level - confirmed as Professional Member. The requirements include the current Mandatory Modules plus a structured Return to Practice Review.
What you'll need to do

A structured online conversation to support your return to current valuation practice. No written reports are required. The conversation is assessed against four criteria:
