Call For Expressions of Interest – API Technical Working Group: Energy Efficient Properties
The API invites expressions of interest (EOI) from members who wish to join a new working group to support the API, as a key property stakeholder, in governance forum discussions with the:
- Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS);
- Residential Energy Efficiency Disclosure Initiative (REEDI) and the development of the mandatory residential energy efficiency disclosure regime across Australia; and
- Green Building Council of Australia.
Already, the API and property valuers have been heavily involved in the trials for the expansion of NatHERS for existing residential homes. Please see this press release by the Hon Josh Wilson MP, Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy which highlights property valuers involvement in assisting with the reduction of Australia’s carbon footprint.
The technical working group will primarily:
- provide subject matter expertise on how energy efficient assessments, valuation practices and property markets intersect;
- contribute insights into member training needs and changes to the valuation profession and industry to achieve market readiness for a mandatory energy disclosure regime;
- assist with shaping state, territory and federal advocacy submissions to align member needs and member opportunity with government’s sustainability and net zero target objectives.
We anticipate this group will meet, via Teams, each month to work collaboratively to progress the above goals. Participation is voluntary however it is an opportunity to be instrumental in assisting the API with its strategic plan and its ‘’green’’ vision.
If you are an API member who is a subject-matter expert and who is passionate about exploring how API members and the API can be critical in energy efficient properties, please submit an EOI. The EOI should be no more than half a page long, setting out your relevant experience and motivation and the name of your organisation.
Please send your EOI to Sheila Kushe, General Manager, Corporate Affairs at [email protected] by 31 July 2025.
