Valuation Protocol Updated – How to Establish Valuation Process Quality Control
The API standards team recently reviewed and updated the Valuation Protocol: How to Establish Valuation Process Quality Control.
The changes were made to align to terminology used in recent standards articles, and did not change the purpose of the Valuation Protocol.
This updated Valuation Protocol has been prepared to assist Valuers and valuation firms in the development and implementation of a valuation process quality control regime when providing valuation services, and valuation reports, of interests in real property.
A quality control process is a procedure that the Valuer undertakes to minimise “Valuation Process Risk”.
Just as a Valuer is responsible for the content, opinions and conclusions contained in a valuation report, it is also the Valuer’s responsibility to have an established valuation process quality control process/system/regime in place which is in keeping with their risk management assessment strategies.
This updated Valuation Protocol comes into effect on 31 December 2025. The API permits and encourages earlier adoption.
Access the updated Valuation Protocol here.
