The Australian Property Institute is excited to be able to deliver a new valuation guidance paper to support an evolving new asset class – Build to Rent.

With the continued evolution of the build to rent asset class in Australia, as well as its dominant purpose, the Property industry, including investors and developers and those in the wider Valuation profession have been increasingly calling for a standardised approach to support the sector to fulfil its potential in Australia.

The API has been implementing a variety of critical initiatives to support the evolution of this new asset class in the Property sector: New Build to Rent Valuation Guidance Paper.

Created by a variety of multi-disciplinary, build to rent, industry experts as well as receiving member feedback, please see attached the release of a new Build to Rent Guidance Paper.

The purpose of this new API valuation guidance paper is to:

  • promote a consistent approach to the valuation of this asset class
  • provide information and guidance to Valuer Members undertaking valuations of Build to Rent property for any purpose

As with all new guidance with evolving asset classes, we anticipate that this guidance will evolve accordingly.
