Who is it for?
API Certified Plant and Machinery Valuers provide expertise and certainty in conducting appraisals and valuations of plant, equipment and machinery. It is only awarded to applicants who meet the API’s educational and experience requirements.
Members who obtain the Certification of CPV (P&M) may use the post nominals AAPI CPV (P&M) and have full access to Member benefits and voting rights.
This Certification is awarded to those who meet the API’s educational and experience requirements and then successfully complete the report review and professional interview process. The process ensures that API certified P&M Valuers possess the necessary skills and qualification to value plant and machinery/equipment.
Eligibility

API Accredited Course Pathway
- Evidence of Accredited for CPV course completion or completion of a partially qualifying degree
- Evidence of completion of P&M ASA courses:
- ME201–Introduction to Machinery and Equipment Valuation
- ME202–Machinery and Equipment Valuation Methodology
- ME203–Advanced Topics and Case Studies
- ME204–Machinery and Equipment Valuation– Advanced Topics and Report Writing
- Completion of PVT modules to P&M level
- Submission of experience journal outlining two years full-time Plant & Machinery Valuation experience gained in the past four years (of 3 years gained in the past 6 if degree is partially qualified)
- Submission of three referee reports
- Submission of three Assessment Reports with all reports to be dated no earlier than 24 months of the submission date, of differing plant and machinery, demonstrating differing valuation methodologies
- Successful completion of a Professional Interview
OR
Experience Pathway
- CV outlining over 10 years of professional experience in the valuation of plant and machinery
- Evidence of completion of P&M ASA courses:
- ME201–Introduction to Machinery and Equipment Valuation
- ME202–Machinery and Equipment Valuation Methodology
- ME203–Advanced Topics and Case Studies
- ME204–Machinery and Equipment Valuation– Advanced Topics and Report Writing
- Completion of PVT modules to P&M level
- Submission of three referee reports
- Submission of experience journal outlining two years full-time Plant & Machinery Valuation experience gained in the past four years
- Submission of three Assessment Reports with all reports to be dated no earlier than 12 months of the submission date, of differing plant and machinery, demonstrating differing valuation methodologies
- Successful completion of a Professional Interview

Payment of $160 application fee prior to assessment.

- Full completion of the API Profile
- Upload all required documentation
- Copy of degree certificate and/or Academic Transcript, ASA Course completion, CV demonstrating 10 years of experience
- Experience Journal demonstrating two years’ full-time experience
- 3 Referee Reports
- 3 Report Samples including Letters of Certification and Field Notes
- Completion of Member Declaration
- Completion of API report review and professional interview process
Membership is active once the application has been completed in full, approved and the fee paid.
