The Australian Property Institute (API) has lodged a submission to the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water on their Request for Information  relating to Solution to stimulate demand for home energy ratings.

The API’s response makes it clear that qualified Valuers are well placed to take-on home energy assessments.

As NSW builds the workforce behind home energy ratings, the quickest way to meet demand is to draw on a skilled workforce that already exists. Valuers inspect homes every day and already hold most of the competencies required for energy efficiency rating assessments for existing homes. A streamlined recognition pathway would enable Valuers to add an energy assessment to the same visit as a valuation, opening a new line of work.
