Student Membership Explanatory Notes


  • Must be studying full time or part time
  • Must have a valid student number (API may contact the university or TAFE to confirm status. Proof of enrollment may be required)

Application Process

  • Online application via
  • Membership is active once application has been completed and fee paid

Benefits and Entitlements

Student Members may:

  • Apply to join the YPP Committee in their state of residence
  • Register for API events & courses at applicable Member/Student rates
  • Purchase products through the API Store at applicable Member/Student rates
  • Access member only news, information, resources and rewards
  • Participate in API Student Volunteer Programs
  • Participate in API Mentoring Programs
  • Upgrade to higher level of membership if eligibility requirements are met

Student Members may NOT:

  • Nominate for State Committee or API Ltd Board
  • Vote in State Committee or API Ltd Board elections
  • Use any API post-nominals
  • Hold an API certification 

Ongoing Requirements:

  • Maintain standing as a part time/full time student
  • No requirement for accrual of Continuing Professional Development points

Beginning in 2020, student memberships will move to an annual fee in line with all other API memberships.
