I commenced my working career in the construction industry as an administration and contract manager and worked on mainly commercial construction projects for 7 years. I then sold both residential and commercial real estate for 4 years before embarking upon a career change in valuation.
After completing my formal qualifications, I moved to the United Kingdom and worked for Knight Frank in London in Corporate Real Estate Advisory. This was a new division within the firm at the time and together we developed the systems and procedures for client relationship management for this emerging real estate market. I was seconded to a major client and tasked with a major consolidation program. I was promoted to Partner. I also worked for BP as their Real Estate Executive for Europe, the Middle East and Africa where I held responsibility for the UK real estate portfolio worth US$500 million as well as undertaking real estate acquisition and disposal roles throughout the EMEA.
Upon my return to WA, I accepted a role with Westpac as their Property Risk Manager for WA a role which involved the assessment of the various risks to the bank for property lending above $10 million in value. He also provided property advice to a number of the bank’s commercial clients who were contemplating property acquisitions or development.
I joined Mirvac as a Senior Development Manager where I was responsible for New Business opportunities as well as undertaking development management for built form residential, industrial and residential land subdivisions. This gave me an in-depth perspective from initial feasibility right through to completion of a project. I have first-hand experience in the financial analysis and identification and management of risks associated with major built form development, including environmental, construction and planning risks on projects.
Whilst at Mirvac I was also responsible for contract dispute resolution and negotiation across a number of multi- level residential built form and land projects and the disposal of non-core property assets. In my new business role, I was responsible for securing a contract to build 151 affordable houses for the Department of Housing as well as other complex negotiations involving Joint Venture Partnerships. During this time, I also provided strategic property advice to the Uniting Church on their retail and residential portfolio.
In November 2010 I became an equity partner in Herron Todd White valuation business before resigning as a Director and Shareholder in April 2018. I remained as a consultant valuer with the firm until 2021.
In 2018 I began my own consultancy and development practice and also acted as a Property Advisor with Agora Property Group where I undertook the sale and leasing of a broad range of commercial properties.
In 2021 I joined Cygnet West as Director, Valuation, Research and Advisory Services.
