Supporting Our Queensland Community After Cyclone Alfred

Our thoughts are with all Queenslanders affected by Cyclone Alfred, which made landfall near Brisbane on March 7, 2025. This rare event brought heavy rainfall, strong winds, and severe weather conditions, and marked the first cyclone to strike so far south in 50 years. The cyclone’s impact was significant, with over 450,000 homes and businesses losing power—reported as the largest loss of power from a natural disaster in Queensland’s history.
The aftermath of Cyclone Alfred has left many communities facing extensive clean-up efforts and recovery challenges. The safety and well-being of our members remain our top priority during this time. We understand that such events can be emotionally and physically taxing. To support our members, API offers free, confidential counselling services through Converge International. Members can access professional guidance and support by calling 1300 687 327 and quoting their name and member number to book an appointment.
