I am already looking forward to what this year will bring and some of the events on the horizon. A big highlight will be the annual SA State of the Market event, where attendees will get the chance to hear from industry experts about the latest economic trends and what’s happening across key property sectors. We have a great speaker line up which can be found here. Events like this are a great way to bring our community together, ignite topical conversations, and share knowledge.

To offer a fresh perspective, I’d like to share some insights from our new live reporting feature, designed to provide a deeper understanding of our membership base. Below, I’ve included a comparison of the South Australian membership base with that of other states and territories, with SA currently holding the fifth-largest membership.

One data point that stood out to me is the gender distribution across membership levels. The chart below illustrates, in real-time, the disparity between membership levels based on gender.

You will notice the dominant membership categories for women are the Parental Leave, Student and Provisional members – early career memberships. While the male cohort predominantly hold the Life Fellow, Fellow and Associate memberships. As we approach International Women’s Day next week, the current trajectory presents an opportunity for us to reflect on the progress we have made, and the steps we can continue to take toward greater equality. Let’s acknowledge the journey ahead, and ensure we’re creating a future where everyone has the opportunities they deserve.
