The API is pleased to inform members that the consultation period for the new Carbon Farming Projects Guidance Paper (GP) opened 16 October and ends on 17 November 2023

Carbon farming is an established and growing industry that is making a significant contribution to Australia’s climate change response.  Carbon farming refers to practices that increase carbon storage in the landscape or avoid the release of greenhouse gases, such as methane and nitrous oxide, through active management of vegetation, fire, soil and/or livestock.

This GP is intended to provide information and guidance to API Members who provide professional services including valuations of carbon farming projects or real property which supports, or is proposed to support, a carbon farming project.

Members and interested industry stakeholders are encouraged to provide comments on the exposure draft paper using the response webform by no later than Friday 17 November 2023.

The technical working group involved in the drafting of this paper would be particularly interested to receive feedback from those undertaking valuations of carbon farming projects and/or real property supporting a carbon farming project in relation to any specific reporting requirements and valuation considerations that should be included and addressed in the paper.
