Friday 7th February saw the biggest event on the API calendar at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. As Amelia Hodge’s last Economic Indicators event co-hosted by FINSIA and supported by PRP, over 650 professionals from within valuations, development, banking and solicitors’ sectors were given insights into Southeast Queensland’s housing and development forecast by Jen Williams, CEO of the Committee for Brisbane. This was then followed with an overview of Brisbane being ranked as Australia’s happiest place to live and Olympic updates from Anthony Ryan, CEO of the Brisbane Economic Development Agency. Closing off the speakers, we were provided with a very in-depth delivery from Paul Bloxham covering Australian production efficiencies, GDP, interest rates and insights into the Donald Trump administration and effects on the globe. The event was a huge success due to the efforts from everyone involved, specifically the events team. A huge thank you to all involved, stay tuned for next year’s event dates.

On Wednesday 19th February, we were greeted by warm weather at the Queensland University of Technology welcome week in central Brisbane. Enjoying the amazing scenery and greenery around the grounds, API had a very well-appointed stall next to an open green providing ample opportunity to engage with students. With API staff out in strength (big thanks to Andrew Milne and Ryan Jones) we also had the pleasure of having Jonathan Millar and Grace Tudman from WBP in support providing invaluable knowledge and experience on the day. Although only ‘open’ for three hours, the stall managed to attract a very large number of students. With over 190 student signing up for API student membership. A very successful day, mainly due to the efforts from everyone that came along and got involved – a huge thank you goes out to all. Now looking forward to the next one after having benchmark set. Coming up soon, we have the YPP site visit at Hops Brewery on the 20th March, tickets are still available so please do not miss out on this event, we anticipate a great turn out.
