LFAPI Admission – Phil Lyons

The API would like to congratulate Phil Lyons for receiving the membership status of Life Fellow.
Since joining as a Student Member in 1966, Phil became an Associate in 1971 and a Fellow in 1985. He has had a wide and diversified career in valuation, advisory and agency matters, with over 40 years of contribution to API Committees.
His dedication to the advancement of student knowledge and skills lead him to design the Advanced Property Valuation Module at Newcastle University for the Property Master’s degree, lecture at TAFE, and act as an industry representative on the API team which accredits the property courses at various universities.
Phil was a founding member of the highly successful Royal Exchange Property Discussion Group, helping them grow to a membership base of approximately 200 property professionals.
He joined the NSW Divisional Council in 1999 and was Senior Vice President from 2003 – 2013. He chaired the NSW Valuation Board, NSW Complaints Board and the Presidents Appointment Panel, a role he still undertakes today.
Phil is currently a member of the API National Education Standards Committee and since 2017 Phil has been a member of the Property Valuation Course Advisory Committee advising TAFE NSW on the Bachelor of Property Valuation course.
His work for the API has been recognised and respected by peers, and on 30 November 2000, Phil was awarded the API Meritorious Service award in appreciation for his contribution to the Australian Property Institute membership.
We thank Phil for his outstanding contribution to the property profession and the API, and congratulate him on his Life Fellowship.
