This week saw Taiwan play host to the 31st Pan Pacific Congress (PPC) of real estate appraisers, valuers, counselors, and representing API at the four-day conference was Chair Robert Hecek along with NZ partners from PINZ, Blue Hancock.

As always, this year’s event in Taiwan was also strongly supported by other sister organisations in the region including Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, and Singapore which will host the next PPC in 2025.

The PPC, which Sydney hosted at the inaugural congress in 1959, was initially founded to provide a forum through which professional bodies recognised as leaders in the field of appraisal, valuation and counselling could share information.

Since then Australia has had the honour of hosting the biennial event on many occasions.

The overarching theme at this year’s PPC was the Impact of Covid and the Global Political Economy on Real Estate.

While the plenary session focused on Promoting a Diverse and Inclusive Housing Market for Secure and Affordable Living, issues touched on within panel sessions included valuation for Sustainable Development, the Future of Proptech, the Value of Green Property, and Global Real Estate and Valuation.

To maintain API’s strong international presence at key events, John Martin, Chair of the Advisory Forum working Group of IVS, will attend the upcoming IVSC-AGM in Paris in October.

Robert Hecek is also a member of the 13-strong IVS Working Group, and API CEO Amelia Hodge will also be attending the event as a guest speaker.
