Join us for the Young Property Professionals Knowledge and Nibbles Series. This series was created by your National YPP community.

This series is specifically designed for students and early career professionals in the first five years of your career looking to expand your knowledge. Our inspiring presenters will cover career skills, case studies, and technical topics.

Through informal discussions and Q&As, you will hear invaluable career advice and gain insight into various pathways. The leaders will offer advice, ideas, and encouragement as they share their experiences.

The series ran for six episodes between May and November 2021.

Episode 1: Networking for Career Success

Going concern valuations assess the value of land and buildings plus the value of the business at the premises. They tend to be required in situations where the value of a property is intrinsically linked to the profitability of the business located there. Craig Ashford, Head of Client Relationship Management JLL
Craig is currently Head of Client Relationship Management for JLL Valuation and Advisory Australia. He is responsible for maintaining long-term and strategic relationships with JLL’s clients and more broadly, responsible for implementing programs and practices that focus on JLL’s client’s requirements and how JLL interacts with them. He is a registered valuer in QLD and CPV with the Australia Property Institute.  From his valuation experience, ranging from residential property, to automotive, to government and specialised assets, he has developed a broad understanding of valuations. Craig’s network is predominantly the non-mortgage property sector in Australia; comprising lawyers, accountants, the not-for profit and community housing sector as well as State and Federal Government departments. Having worked for over a decade in hospitality and the last 20 years in the property sector interacting with clients, Craig is at ease talking with a diverse range of people and networking.
Michael Levine, Head of Enterprise Sales LinkedIn Australia
Michael has worked in sales & leadership roles across print, digital, mobile and social platforms for a number of industry leading organisations in EMEA, APAC and North America. He is currently the Head of Enterprise Sales, managing a talented and rapidly growing digital advertising sales team. Specialist in digital marketing along with consulting on creative marketing solutions for advertisers, working in the Marketing Solutions team at LinkedIn- the world’s largest professional network. Michael has a strong sales track record and extensive media sales experience with a network of contacts across marketers, agencies, publishers and technology providers. He is passionate about creating access through education opportunities for all, most recently serving on the Board of Directors for ExpandEd Schools (non-profit organisation) in New York.
Josh Perry, Property Valuer Office of the Valuer General
Josh Perry is a CPV based in Northern Tasmania currently working for the Office of the Valuer General. Josh began working in the property industry as a cadet valuer in 2007 and became a CPV in 2013. Josh has experience across a range of property classes including specialising as an Agri valuer. Josh grew up working in his family’s butcher shop business and visiting his grandparents farm, which instilled in him an interest in the agricultural sector. Returning to the valuation industry after a brief hiatus he sort out opportunities to specialise in this area of valuation which continues to grow in demand.
James Ruben, Director – Sydney Commercial, m3property 
James Ruben is a Director and is responsible for valuations of specialised assets including childcare centres, service stations, boarding houses backpackers and hotels. James’ experience includes valuations of freehold interests, leasehold interests, easements, life interests and other interests in land. With more than 14 years’ experience in the property sector, James benefits from a broad property background spanning assets across NSW and the ACT. He has prepared valuations for a variety of purposes including mortgage, stamp duty, family law, and expert witness.
Dennis Volk, Director Volk Property Pty Ltd
Dennis joined the API in 1983 and is a current Fellow member. He is a Past President of the Australian Property Institute (WA Division) having served as the President over the period 2011 to 2013. Dennis was also was chairman of the Marketing and Communication and Regional State Conference Committees of the API, serving on the Divisional Council for 9 years. He was reappointed to the Western Australian Committee in October 2017. Dennis was also the Australian Property Institute (WA Division) appointed National Council Representative for the 12 month period ending May 2015, overseeing a period of significant structural change for the API, at both a National and State level.
