Recording – Ethnic Diversity and Housing Market Resilience after Natural Disasters in Australia

O230816

Description

Climate change and the associated increased extreme weather events have cost $92 billion to the US housing market in 2018.

Australia is no stranger to such weather extremes – floods in Lismore NSW and Kimberley WA, bushfires ravaging across NSW and VIC, cyclones in QLD, and severe storms across the country.  In this webinar, our presenters share their APREF research based on three sets of data to evaluate the impact of natural disasters on the housing market, to ponder;

  1. Is the impact of natural disasters on housing markets temporary or permanent?
  2. What is the impact on housing market indicators: price and liquidity?
  3. Do immigration flow and diversity of immigrants mitigate the negative impact on natural disasters on housing market performance?

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand housing market resilience.
  2. Understand the impact of immigration and ethnic diversity on housing market resilience.
  3. Identify the policy implications of this analysis.
