MC - Gavin Hegney - Property Analyst and Commentator
Gavin started his career as a cadet valuer with the state government where he gained both valuable property experience and great insight into the working of Government. He then spent a year in the United States before moving back into the corporate world in Perth. Prior to setting up a Property Valuation business he imported innovative bicycle handlebars, established a wind surfing school, taught children swimming and worked in the liquor industry which was a unique experience for a nondrinker. Setting up a business at the start of the early 1990s recession Gavin cites as one of he greatest lessons. He went onto chose some good people and grow it into the largest national firm in its field. During this process he had over 25 business partners in and out of various areas, set up the first buyers' agency in WA and valued on average 1 out of every 2 properties in Perth.
Cath Hart, CEO, REIWA
Cath Hart is an experienced business advocate with nearly two decades in advocacy, public policy and journalism. Ms Hart commenced as Chief Executive Officer of the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA) on 2 May 2022. Prior to REIWA, Ms Hart was the Executive Director of the Housing Industry Association and also worked as Director of Advocacy for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia. She is passionate about Western Australia becoming the best place in the world to live and do business, and about the role of the private sector in creating jobs and opportunities for our communities. Ms Hart is Chair of the Housing Industry Forecast Group, a member of the BankWest Curtin Economics Centre Advisory Board and the REIWA representative on the WA Government’s Property Industry Advisory Committee.
Vanessa Rader, Head of Research, Ray White
Vanessa Rader is the Head of Research for the Ray White Group servicing the commercial and residential offices within the network.  Vanessa has 20 years experience in the field of property research having worked and headed up teams at JLL, CBRE, LandMark White as well as a research consultant at Knight Frank.  Her expertise is across all asset classes nationally, including residential, office, industrial, retail, hotel, residential and special uses such as medical and childcare.  Having completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Property Economics and Masters in Property Development, Vanessa is an active participant of the API having been the recipient of their Young Achiever of the Year award in 2005 and the Meritorious Service Award in 2013, she also sits on a number of API committees.
