The role
As the Senior Valuer, you will provide professional, expert and authoritative property and valuation information and technical expertise that is consistent with legislation, policy and community standards and expectations. You will be a natural problem solver and assist in providing guidance, advice and training to other team members when required.
If successful and dependant on your placement, you’ll be required to either:
- make land valuations using mass valuation systems for rating and taxing purposes under the Valuation of Land Act, 1916; or
- Determine objection valuation outcomes for all types of rating and taxing valuations in line with the Act.

Essential Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Appropriate membership with either the Australian Property Institute or the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (or be eligible to obtain CPV within 12 months of commencement)
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel

About Us
The Valuer General is an independent statutory officer, appointed by the Governor of New South Wales to oversee the State’s land valuation system.
Value NSW (VNSW) provides services to, supports, and where appropriately delegated, delivers relevant functions on behalf of the Valuer General of NSW. This includes:
- Defining and setting the standards and policies for the land valuation system for rating and taxing purposes along with the determination of compensation through the compulsory acquisition process to ensure integrity within the NSW Government is upheld.
- Making valuations as well as monitoring, quality assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
- Providing other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations as/when required for other cluster or state wide government partners; and
- Providing professional leadership and stewardship to the valuation industry.
