Director Rating and Taxing – Quality Assurance
Value NSW (VNSW) is currently seeking an experienced valuation professional to join their leadership team as the Director Rating and Taxing Quality Assurance.

- TRP from $231k to $255k including superannuation, commensurate with experience
Value NSW (VNSW) is a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation dedicated to delivering excellence in property valuation and assessment across NSW. We are currently seeking an experienced valuation professional to join our leadership team as the Director Rating and Taxing Quality Assurance.
As the Director Rating and Taxing Quality Assurance, you will lead a team of valuers responsible for managing, monitoring and assuring the quality of land valuation assessments for over 2.65 million properties annually across NSW. This is a unique role as these assessments, valued at approximately $2.8 trillion, underpin around $15 billion in revenue for the NSW Government and Local Councils.
You will also be responsible for designing and implementing an annual quality assurance program to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and fairness of land valuations to ensure the integrity of property valuations and to maintain public confidence in the valuation system. This will include continuously enhancing the quality assurance program and mass valuation system through new technologies and data-driven insights.

About You
In addition to the requirements of the RD, to be successful, you’ll:
- Be a highly experienced valuation professional with specialist knowledge and significant experience in land valuations.
- Know, understand and be able to utilise the mass valuation and spatial mapping software platforms as well as data analysis technology.
- Love thinking fast and utilising data to influence decisions regarding strategy, operations and initiatives.
- Value relationships and be able to swiftly build effective ones, with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Understand the value of deadlines and thrive operating in time sensitive environments.
Additionally, you will be an inspirational leader with strong coaching skills and a proven ability to foster a culture of high performance, best practices, and continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in law, property, valuations or other relevant areas
- Associate Membership of the Australian Property Institute with Certified Practicing Valuer designation or equivalent professional membership
- Demonstrated and superior current knowledge of the Valuation of Land Act 1916, statutory interpretation, relevant case law application and the mass valuation system
About Us
The Valuer General is an independent statutory officer, appointed by the Governor of New South Wales to oversee the State’s land valuation system. Value NSW provides services to, supports, and where appropriately delegated, delivers relevant functions on behalf of the Valuer General of NSW.
This includes:
- Defining and setting the standards and policies for the land valuation system for rating and taxing purposes along with the determination of compensation through the compulsory acquisition process to ensure integrity within the NSW Government is upheld.
- Monitoring, quality assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
- Providing other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations as/when required for other cluster or statewide government partners; and
- Providing professional leadership and stewardship to the valuation industry.
