Acquisition Case Manager

The Department of Transport & Planning brings together all transport modes to design, plan, build and operate Victoria’s transport system. Our job is to further integrate the transport network and improve the delivery of services to Victorians for simpler, quicker and safer journeys that connect people and places and support Victoria’s prosperity and liveability.

Acquisition Case Managers manage various compulsory acquisition matters and other government land transactions (e.g. negotiation of leases/licences, purchases, temporary occupations, underground strata divestments and Planning and Environment Act claims) for the Division’s delivery partners including Department of Transport and Planning projects, Westgate Tunnel Project, Level Crossing Removal Project, North East Link Project, Major Roads Project Victoria and Suburban Rail Loop Authority.

The Acquisition Case Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Leverage critical thinking and problem-solving skills to provide delivery partners access to land in-line with project timeframes by serving/publishing all required statutory notices within required timelines and in line with all policy and procedures.
• Working with delivery partners and interested parties to obtain comprehensive information, effectively communicating the requirements for possession, arranging possession and escalating risks appropriately.
• Purchase land and assess compensation by identifying requirements for and arranging expert advice, accurately applying the legislative framework and legal principles, identifying opportunities for early resolution and effectively communicating and negotiating with interested parties.
• Maximise business continuity by ensuring all systems and records are up to date.
