Director Valuations – Rating and Taxing
- Unique opportunity to establish an in-house rating and taxing valuations function for Valuation NSW - Band 1 ongoing opportunity with a flexible/hybrid working model - Located in Parramatta, Newcastle or Coffs Harbour; or Orange by negotiation - TRP from $223k to $247k including superannuation, commensurate with experience
As the Director Rating and Taxing Valuations, you will be instrumental in leading a team of passionate valuers to make more than 800,000 land valuations using a mass valuation system (with a current total land value in excess of $700 billion) across the four regions of Sydney Coast North, Hunter Coast, North Coast, and Central Tablelands for rating and taxing purposes under the Valuation of Land Act, 1916 (ACT).
You’ll also be responsible for establishing and managing the Rating and Taxing Valuations team (consisting of approximately 35 valuers) in accordance with delegations and Key Performance Indicators.
This is a good news story for Valuation NSW – in a time where the cost of contractors and consultants continues to escalate with inflation and other market pressures, we’ll be aiming to buck that trend. This role will be responsible for delivering on this proposition through the efficient and effective deployment of resourcing – something that will require continued innovation and agility with an ever changing property landscape and market.
The move towards both internally made valuations in addition to external market supported valuations will be an instrumental part of the Valuation NSW journey – with a hybrid approach not only reducing costs of maintaining the valuation system, but also driving diversity of services to the Valuer General of NSW – something that can only further strengthen our already award winning valuation system.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated leader with extensive experience in providing strategic advice and solutions within a similar large and complex organisation. It is essential that you hold the appropriate membership with either the Australian Property Institute or the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (or be eligible to obtain) and are a subject matter expert in the Valuation of Land Act, 1916 and be highly experienced in its statutory and regulatory requirements.
You will be an experienced people leader who has a track record in delivering positive valuation results in fast paced, high volume environments. Your communication and stakeholder engagement skills will help you deliver success in this role in addition to your ability to identify emerging issues, risks and opportunities to optimise business outcomes.
