Chief Valuer

The role of Chief Valuer is accountable to the Manager, Valuation Services, within Land Services SA (LSSA).

Role Overview 

The role of Chief Valuer is accountable to the Manager, Valuation Services, within Land Services SA (LSSA).  The main focus of the role is oversight of key valuation outcomes associated Commercial, Industrial, Rural and Specialised properties together with carriage of Valuation Review and SACAT matters.

In addition, the position contributes to the development and implementation of business strategic planning, business transformation, enhanced valuation outcomes, organisational transparency, upskilling of staff, customer service and culture.

Other activities include engagement with key customers, stakeholders and industry groups.

Key Outcomes of the Role  

The Chief Valuer is required to undertake a wide range of activities which may include a combination of the following:

  • Providing expert and specialised valuation advice and consultancy in relation to Commercial, Industrial, Rural and Specialised sectors.
  • Providing expert valuation advise and reports on a range of Commercial, Industrial, Rural and Specialised properties across the state
  • Support the Manager, Valuation Projects to contribute to the Annual General Valuation in a consultancy capacity and analysed sales.
  • Acting as an expert in SACAT and Valuation Review matters, preparing overseeing and reviewing valuation reports, conferencing, advising and representing the Valuer-General and ensure SLA’s and contractual obligations are met relating to SACAT matters
  • Resolving complex valuation issues with innovative solutions that are consistent with LSSA’s obligations to the Office of the Valuer-General
  • Undertaking research and analysis, interpretation of findings and preparation of reports relating to statutory valuation outcomes or broader LSSA initiatives
  • Provide guidance and development to other valuation staff on specialised valuations, and contribute to the learning and development of other Valuation staff
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of Valuation policies, procedures, strategic initiatives and business transformation activities as required.
  • Ensures that reports and advice are of the highest standards and meet all obligations of the Chief Valuer.

Key Capabilities 

  • Significant senior valuation experience across commercial, industrial and rural sectors together with strong experience across a range of specialised property types
  • Significant experience in managing valuation SACAT matters
  • Qualified as a Valuer in accordance with the Land Valuers Act 1994
  • Significant senior statutory Valuation expertise
  • Significant industry presence in terms of expertise within the valuation field

Special Conditions

Some interstate and intrastate travel requiring overnight absences may be required.

A current driver’s licence is essential.
