API Membership Levels

Membership subscription rates

The Australian Property Institute offers three membership levels to applicants looking to join.  They are:

  • Student
  • Provisional Membership
  • Associate Membership


Student Membership

Student Membership is available to anyone who is undertaking one the API’s accredited courses.  A one off Application Fee gives you access to the Institute’s range of services for the duration of your studies.  Student Members receive a range of unique benefits as part of their membership.  


Provisional Membership

Provisional Membership is available to applicants who have met the API’s academic entry criteria but do not yet have the work experience required to move into the next level of membership.

The designation Residential Property Valuer is also available to Provisional Members with 12 months of residential valuation experience.


Associate Membership

Associate Membership is available to applicants who have met the API’s academic entry criteria and have two years of full time or equivalent property experience achieved within the last four years. 

A range of Certifications are also available to applicants applying for Associate Membership.
 

Membership Levels for existing members only

Fellow Membership

Fellow Membership is available to existing Members who have more than 10 years of Associate Membership and have a demonstrated commitment to the property sector and the API.  The API's Property Leaders Program recognises members of the property community who are worthy of API membership at this high level.
 

Life Fellow Membership

Life Fellowship is awarded to existing Members for their outstanding commitment, professionalism and contributions to the API.
 

Non-Practising Membership

Non-Practising is available to existing Members who have stepped away from working in the property sector for a period of time.  To be eligible for this level of membership the applicant must be receiveing no fee, retainer or income from working in the property sector and their current work must not be benefitted from their property related educational qualification/s.
 

Retired Membership

Retired Membership is available to existing Members who have retired from all forms of work.
