Strength in Diversity - API National Leadership Series Table of 10 (Q190906)
In 2019 the National Leadership Series will focus on the theme Strength in Diversity. The API aims to support and encourage diversity, growth and leadership within the property industry by exploring the fascinating journeys of professionals in a range of industries and across business models and sectors. Presented as a breakfast panel discussion, speakers will share the stories of their career paths and what diversity means to them.
- Peta Gwen Stilgoe OAM - Member of the Land Court of Queensland
- Rowan Arndt - Global Diversity & Inclusion Leader, Boeing Australia
- Karuna Dimelow - COO, Coronis
From a young age, Karuna was determined to succeed at whatever she put her mind to… but it wasn’t until she joined the Coronis team in 2003 and made the jump into property sales, that she really hit her straps.
She quickly earnt the reputation of being a clever negotiator and consistent performer which is credit to her attitude of ‘if you’re not happy, I’m not happy.’ After eight years in a sales role and assisting with Coronis’ expansion, Karuna stepped up into an Area Leader position with Coronis, managing seven offices and a team of more than 90 sales specialists, property managers, administrators and support staff.
It was in this role that her passion for growing her team and helping them achieve their goals was most evident, as she transformed several of her offices into the most profitable in the company. Her hands-on approach, attention to detail and profound understanding of customer service earnt her the promotion to Chief Operating Officer (COO) in November 2017.
As COO, her overarching goal is to streamline the business and create more efficiencies between all departments, especially at Coronis’ Headquarters where she oversees events, administration, contracts, recruitment, marketing, operations, Concierge and IT.

Charity Partner: Project Independence
As part of our National Leadership Series and our ongoing commitment to supporting our local community, we will once again be supporting a charity partner for this event. Our 2019 charity partner is Project Independence, and $5 per ticket sold will be donated towards this important cause.
Project Independence (PI) is an innovative social housing development for people with an Intellectual Disability (ID). It represents a new and unique model of homeownership, not only in Australia but also internationally. PI was developed and rolled out in Canberra and provides people with an ID the opportunity to acquire equity in a property, using just their government Disability Support Pension (DSP), whilst learning the life skills and Supported Decision-Making abilities to live as independently as possible. It empowers them to use PI as a stepping stone to move to truly independent living in the broader community and grow beyond social housing as they move up the homeownership ladder.
