The Australian Property Institute is committed to supporting the presence of women in business and community leadership roles.  We are pleased to present our Women in Leadership breakfast on 28 September 2018. This event will bring together men and women working in a variety of industries including property, finance and business communities to network and gain insights from inspirational business women who have made a difference in their chosen fields and in their communities.

Our presenters will join guests for a sit down breakfast at the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel before sharing their story of challenges and successes on their journey to leadership roles, what they believe are the critical factors for achieving in management positions and the qualities that are essential to being a great leader in today’s society

This event is set to attract professionals across all career stages from recent graduates, mid-career and highly experienced senior practitioners.

Delfina Lanzilli

Delfina Lanzilli, Valuer-General of South Australia

Delfina Lanzilli was the first female to be appointed as Valuer-General in South Australia.

This position is appointed by the Governor, and Delfina’s role is primarily responsible for delivering annual property valuations, both site (land only) and capital (land and improvements) which are used by the statutory authorities for the levying of rates and taxes. Additionally, the role also provides valuation advice to any Minister, government agency or local government upon their request.

Since her initial appointment, Delfina has delivered an extensive reform agenda for the Office of the Valuer-General including enhancing advisory services to the government and incorporating flexible working arrangements.

Delfina has over 25 years’ experience in the areas of property valuations, rating and customer service principles. In previous roles, she was a senior adviser to the former Valuer-General on managing valuation enquiries across the state and managing stakeholders and customer expectations.

Delfina considers herself to be a very energetic and self-motivated professional who apart from her statutory responsibilities, enjoys developing the skill sets of her staff and providing career progression and mentoring opportunities wherever possible.

Bobette Scott

Bobette Scott, Joint Managing Director, Knight Frank Australia

Bobbette has over 30 years’ Property Management experience gained both in Australia and abroad and held senior roles in South Africa for most of her career in Property. She immigrated to Australia in 2000 and has since held several senior positions with 3 of the largest commercial Real Estate Agencies.

In 2014 Bobbette joined Knight Frank to head up the Asset Management business in SA and sit on the National Executive for Asset Management Services. In 2016 Bobbette was promoted to Joint Managing Director and also participates on the National Executive for Knight Frank Australia. In the same year she was also appointed to the position of  Division Councillor on the PCA Division Council in SA.
 
She continues to work closely with her local team to ensure Knight Frank provides a superior service to its clients as she is passionate about service, client care and brand reputation. She promotes gender diversity and is never afraid of a challenge!

Margot Forster

Margot Forster, Chief Executive Officer, Defence Teaming Centre Inc.

Born in Adelaide, Margot joined the Royal Australian Navy, in August 1982 and it was here that her passion for her career in defence grew. 

From service at sea in 1986, to the Commanding Officer of a Combat Support Unit in the Middle East area of operations and finally as the Commandant of the Australian Defence Force Command Staff College, Margot served over 34 years in the military.

During that time, she took a 3 year leave of absence and worked with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the Australian Embassy, Washington DC. Margot has also been awarded a Chief of Joint Operations Gold Commendation for 'contribution to significant improvements to support for forces engaged in combat operations'. Other awards include commendations from the Chief of Air Force and Assistant Chief of Materiel - Air Force for her contribution to workforce reform and for project management.

After a long and distinguished career in the Australian Defence Force, Margot joined the Defence Teaming Centre in December 2016

The API is proud to support Dress for Success a charity that works to empower women to gain employment. The women it helps are often vulnerable, low on confidence, and experiencing hardship – and they require more support than an employment agency can offer. Helping them become financially independent through employment is one of the most effective ways to help them to take charge of their own futures.  $5 from each ticket sold at these events will be donated to Dress for Success.
