API Training Room - Sydney
Level 3, 60 York Street
Sydney, New South Wales 2000

Amongst relevant matters to be considered in determining the amount of compensation due a dispossessed land owner, regard must be had to the matter of "the disadvantage resulting from relocation" as per s.55(e) Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.This form of compensation  was previously known as solatium in the original 1991 legislation.

However, arising from the recommendations of  the 2014 Russell Review this form of compensation was renamed and arguably significantly narrowed in applicability in the subsequent Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Amendment Act 2016.  The maximum amount was initially increased to $75,000 and can be increased by regulation, whilst the maximum amount is automatically increased in line with inflation.

Professor John Sheehan LFAPI will act as moderator for the forum.
