Overcoming high apartment supply levels in an uncertain market; how do developers navigate through extended approval timeframes & changing legislation, with confidence that a project will meet and exceed changing market needs?

Since 2006, Hindmarsh have been heavily invested in Woden Green and the surrounding area. During this time they have developed and built 4 projects to date, including Tarlo which is nearing completion. In addition, Hindmarsh have delivered Sorrel and Bellerive Retirement in the adjoining suburb of Lyons.

Tarlo is the latest project in the Woden Green precinct. Originally identified as a ‘marker’ site to comprise a tower, various factors drove the design to comprise a 41 townhouse project which has been exceptionally well received in the market.

Hindmarsh, in conjunction with the API, invite you to a site tour of Tarlo. Hindmarsh representatives will talk you through the design evolution of the project and show you the nearly completed product. This will be followed by an overview of the history and future of Woden and how Hindmarsh have evolved various schemes on their remaining sites - both to meet market demand and to reflect planning legislation changes. They will also provide an overview of the design evolution of their upcoming mixed-use project, which comprises circa 450 apartments over 25 storeys and challenges traditional apartment living. Finally, you'll hear Hindmarsh's view on where the apartment market is heading, and why they are confident to be releasing a further 450 apartments to the Woden market.

The event will conclude with light refreshments and pizzas, and an opportunity for a more informal catch-up with colleagues.

Greg is the ACT State Development Manager with Hindmarsh, working across an extensive range of projects, including residential, mixed use, and retirement. Greg has over 25 years’ experience working in a range of roles from Cost Planning, Project Management and Development Management, with tier 1 and private Development Construction companies. Working across numerous sectors with the majority of time in Residential Development across NSW, Perth, Melbourne and Canberra. Projects include Waterfront (Canberra), Darling Harbour Live (Old Entertainment Centre, Sydney), Melbourne Quarter, Mansions Hotel, Iskia, Tarlo.

Development Manager, Hindmarsh

Mia is a Development Manager with Hindmarsh working across an extensive range of projects, including residential and mixed use. Together with Greg, her role includes management and high involvement in the whole development cycle, from acquisition, research, design, and right through to handover of the completed project. Mia has over 12 years’ experience in property, formerly working with CBRE and Urbis providing valuation advice on a wide range of projects across Australia, including a high number of ACT developments, Pentridge Prison (VIC), various Integrated Development Opportunity (IDO) sites (VIC), and Denman Prospect. In addition, working across compensation and litigation cases including Melbourne Airport, and leading the first case to test the NSW Strata Schemes Development Act.

As a team, their philosophy is to provide market leading design and to challenge traditional apartment living to achieve success in any market.
