Four O'clock Forum: A better understanding of risks associated with ACPs in the ACT (A181114)
Awareness surrounding the risks associated with ACPs has been heightened since the Grenfell Tower tragedy in June 2017. Building owners and occupiers have since sought to better understand the impact of ACPs and to achieve compliance.
This Forum will provide an insight into the ACPs, Building Code of Australia (BCA) requirements and routes for compliance.
An understanding of these risks is a must for valuers, property managers, strata managers as well as those in agency.

Stephen Wise, ACT Manager, Exova Defire
Stephen is a manager of Exova Defire which has offices in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Exova Defire provides a specialised building and infrastructure consultancy service in performance based fire safety design. Stephen is responsible for the operations of the Canberra office and is currently tasked as the consulting fire engineer for the Department of Defence – Estate Engineering Policy Directorate.
Stephen has a unique blend of experience in fire-safety engineering in both private industry and the regulatory system is enhanced by 15 years operational fire fighting service in the ACT Fire Brigade. Stephen has worked as a consultant on all aspects of building code compliance and fire-safety engineering, and has been active in the development of fire-safety engineering as a profession.
Stephen is a qualified and accredited fire safety engineer with a wealth of both local and international experience in building design to draw from, with demonstrated application of our experience in both regulatory authorities and in private industry.
His experience involves applying performance-based fire safety engineering in the development of a holistic design strategy for emergency evacuation, smoke control, fire compartmentation and fire rating of loadbearing elements based on fundamental fire safety engineering principles
