The ACT is currently undergoing a development boom.  With tightening lending guidelines for the major banks other forms of project funding are becoming more prevalent in the ACT marketplace.

This Forum will provide insights into the differences between traditional and new forms of development financing and how ACT developers are currently structuring their funding to enhance project feasibility.

Lucas joined EY in March 2017 following 11 years at ANZ Bank, where he managed the Bank’s exposure and product offering to a vast range of property clients in the Bank’s Institutional Property Group, from the largest REITS and government to private developers, dealing with the complete range of real estate assets from residential subdivisions to office towers and shopping centres to residential apartments.

Lucas is currently involved with EY’s engagement by several Sydney based property developers to optimise their funding solutions and treasury functions, providing financial management insight and arranging domestic and international capital partners.”

David Kimmorley

David Kimmorley, Partner, Balmain Canberra

David has arranged funding for many developments and investment properties since establishing the Canberra office of Balmain Commercial Lending over a decade ago. This includes sourcing a mix of senior bank and non-bank lending, mezzanine, preference equity and associated loan solutions.  David's primary focus is in the commercial investment and residential  development  segments. Balmain was established in 1999 and has several lending joint ventures and longstanding lender relationships.

Prior to commencing with Balmain, David was Regional Manager ACT/ Southern NSW, Corporate Financial Services at Commonwealth Bank, assisting a range of business clients.  He has also held Portfolio Management, Credit and Area Management roles at National Australia Bank.

David is a Fellow at FINSIA and has a Bachelor of Business in Banking and Finance in addition to lending specific qualifications.
