Christo Winters
Managing Director
Innovate RE

Christo is Managing Director of Innovate RE, a property development business with a focus on forward thinking build-to-rent developments.

Prior to establishing Innovate RE, Christo was the founding Managing Director of Global Student Accommodation - Japan. Christo moved to Japan in early 2014 to successfully established GSA’s business in Japan, before returning to Australia in late 2016. During his time in Japan, Christo led the development and execution of GSA’s strategy for the Japan Market. Christo was also a member of GSA’s global executive board, contributing to the business strategy for the organisation globally. Before moving to Japan, Christo spent 4 years working with Urbanest Australia as their National Acquisitions Manager, and was instrumental in securing and establishing the majority of Urbanest’s development portfolio during its early stages in Australia.

Earlier in his career, Christo spent 2 years in Vietnam as General Manager of Refico, an Australian backed development company, and 2 years in London with Consolidated Equity, a private equity group investing into a variety of development projects. In Australia, Christo also worked with Sakkara Group as an analyst and development manager and with PwC and Knight Frank in a variety of asset management and divestment management roles.

In August 2019, Cody was awarded the Master of Property degree with Distinction from the University of Newcastle. Cody obtained the qualification of Certified Property Practitioner (CPP) and is in the process of becoming an Associate Member of the API.

Cody has been working in the banking industry since 2010 with specialisation in property finance. He provides structuring and financing solutions to property developers, investors and clients who have interests in the property industry.

Cody is passionate about sustainable development concepts and the practical implementations. He advocates the ideas and best practise among his client base and the broader community.
