Appointed Life Fellow in 2016, Robert joined the API as an associate in 1983, became Fellow in 2000, Certified Practising Valuer and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He formed the valuation practice Valuecorp in 1980 based in Gladesville in Sydney and employs some 25 valuers, covering all facets of valuation and consulting work through NSW.

With co-operation and input with all stakeholders and major valuation firms, completed and implemented Australian Banking and Finance Industry Residential Valuation Standing Instruction, first of its kind for the Australian valuation industry. All valuers now conduct a mandatory annual online module competency based on their knowledge and understanding of the standing instructions.
Joined the International Fire Safety Standards Coalition(IFSS) at the meeting in Geneva at the UN on the 9th.July,2018,and formed the Standard Setting Committee to establish a common set of internationally accepted performance based principles for fire safety aspects of design, engineering and construction, occupation and ongoing management.
The IFSS Coalition is now working on a draft plan for a Decade of Fire Safety 2020-2030, endorsed by UN and will be launched at the UN in early 2020, and all member UN countries will be tasked with improving fire safety through the decade.
Elected Vice President of World Association of Valuation Organisations (WAVO) at the July 2018 Singapore Board meeting, also founding member of the WAVO Executive Committee, with the membership consisting of most Asian countries with Regional Office about to be established in Frankfurt, Germany.

Dr Jonathan Barnett is an internationally acclaimed technical expert in fire safety engineering with over forty-two years’ experience in his field. Previously a professor at WPI in the United States, Jonathan has researched topics such as computer modelling of fire, structural fire protection, combustible cladding and the development of new fire test standards.
Jonathan has done projects throughout the world including the United States, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. Starting in 1992 he has worked with the CSIRO, the University of Melbourne, Victoria University, the University of Newcastle, the Australasian Fire Authorities Council, and fire brigades in Victoria and New South Wales.
Jonathan is a chartered professional engineer who has designed numerous commercial, residential and special purpose buildings. He is a leader in building defect rectification strategies.
Today he is the managing director of Basic Expert Pty Ltd, a specialist forensic engineering and fire engineering firm; focusing on helping people with non-compliant buildings deal with dangerous cladding, inappropriate Essential Safety Measures (fire alarm and detection systems, fire rated doors and the like), and helping them with building rectifications from design, to permits, to construction and through the legal quagmire of litigation.

Alex Hartmann is a construction partner with Baker McKenzie. Alex has over 20 years’ experience with both the non-contentious and contentious aspects of construction and has worked on major infrastructure and commercial property projects such as the Sydney Desalination Plant, Wet’n’Wild Sydney and major campus developments at UTS. Alex has advised a number of clients regarding ACP issues in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane including regarding potential claims against consultants and contractors, disputes between landlords and tenants, drafting of contracts for remedial works to remove ACPs and due diligence on the sale and purchase of buildings with ACPs.
