API Membership via Reciprocity

API Membership via Reciprocity

The API sets the highest standards of entry, ethics and discipline for its Members. This requires applicants to meet the highest levels of qualification, experience and knowledge before they can become Members.

The API has a number of reciprocity agreements in place with professional bodies around the world who share the same belief in high entry and discipline standards.  These agreements allow API members to work around the globe and, in return, allow members of certain organisations to join the API based on certain criteria.

The API has agreements with the following organisations:

  • Appraisal Institute of Canada
  • Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (General Practice Division)
  • Property Institute of New Zealand
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (General Practice Division)

Additional information about how Members of these organisations can join the API can be found in the Explanatory Notes which are available for each level of Membership.  These Explanatory Notes can be accessed via the Membership Levels page.

Members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) who have held full membership of the RICS for 10 years or more and have 10 years or more of property experience should refer to RICS Members page for information about applying via Direct Entry.

If you are a member of one of the organisations listed above please complete the questions on this page and our staff will be in contact with you about how you can join the Australian Property Institute.
