Australian Property Institute CertificationsThe API (Australian Property Institute) provides certifications to our Members, reflecting their areas of experience in property. These Certifications are available to those who are Associate Members and above. The API's Certifications cover the following areas of specialty:

  • Property Practitioners
  • Property Managers
  • Funds Managers
  • Asset Managers
  • Valuers
    • Practising Valuers
    • Plant & Machinery Valuers
    • Business Valuers
  • Property Development Practitioners
  • Facilities Managers


Qualifications are awarded to the above specialties and reflect the following:

Certified Property Practitioner (CPP)
A person involved in the property fields of sales, leasing and negotiation, research, education, law, consultancy, finance corporate real estate and government owned or controlled assets.   Read More

Certified Property Manager (CPM)
A person who is responsible for the operation and management of owned, leased or subleased real property, including land, buildings and building equipment.  Read More

Certified Funds Manager (CFM)
A person who is responsible for implementing a fund's investing strategy and managing its portfolio trading activities. A fund can be managed by one person, by two people as co-managers and by a team of three or more people. Read More

Certified Practising Valuer (CPV)
A person who, by education, training and experience is qualified to perform a valuation of real property. Read More

Certified Practising Valuer (Plant and Machinery) (CPV (P&M))
A person who, by education, training and experience is qualified to perform a valuation of plant and machinery. Read More
 
Certified Practising Valuer (Business) (CPV (Bus))
A person who, by education, training and experience is qualified to perform a valuation of a business, business ownership interest, security and/or intangible assets. Read More
 
Certified Development Practitioner (CDP)
A person regularly involved in the development of property including from site selection, development strategies, feasibility studies, planning applications and construction of residential or commercial developments through to the ultimate purpose of the sale or lease of the land and/or buildings for profit. Certified Facilities Manager (CFacM)
A person who is responsible for co-ordinating the physical workplace with the people and work of the organisation. Read More
