Australian Property Institute Future Property Professionals

The Future Property Professionals (FPP) Program is developed and implemented by the Australian Property Institute (API) to provide graduates with quality education, and a training pathway from academic excellence to property professional competency.

API, as the leading organisation in the property industry has implemented a professional program to support academic excellence of our accredited education providers and enhance the practical and professional competencies of property graduates.

This specialised FPP program will assist graduates in achieving competencies to apply for Institute Membership including certification and property specialisation within evolving property profession.

The program will lift the capabilities and practical skills of the graduates to achieve professional excellence as a valued member of the API.

Designed by property professionals, educators and technical experts the FPP program focuses on the skills required to prosper in a dynamic professional environment.

API has mandated this program to ensure that graduates of today will be our property leaders of tomorrow.

FPP provides all those seeking Provisional Membership PMAPI (RPV) and Associate Membership AAPI (CPV) with a pathway to membership. FPP is a compulsory component of membership.

FPP will be further developed and implemented for the other API Certifications in the future.

 

WHO NEEDS TO COMPLETE FPP?

All those seeking PMAPI (RPV) membership and AAPI (CPV) are required to complete FPP as part of their pathway to membership.

Additional parameters have been developed for the FPP program to recognise those with extensive Approved Professional Experience (APE). For those with in excess of three years of APE, the following modules are required to be completed in full:

  • API Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct
  • Preparation for Professional Interview (RPV) or (CPV) version
  • Professional Standards
  • Risk Management Module Fundamentals

Those seeking the Certifications of CPV Business and CPV Plant & Machinery, irrespective of experience, are required to complete the following modules only:

  • API Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct
  • Introduction to Professional Risk
  • Preparation for Professional Interview (CPV) version
  • Professional Standards
  • Risk Management Module Fundamentals

Those completing their final year of studies at an API accredited tertiary institution can commence their FPP studies, provided they have a minimum of 12 months APE at the commencement of the program.

 

FPP MODULES

Those seeking Provisional Membership (RPV) will be required to complete nine (six compulsory and three prescribed) on-line modules, whereas those seeking Associate Membership (CPV) are required to complete twelve (six compulsory, three prescribed and three elective) on-line modules.

The six compulsory modules of the FPP program are:

  • API Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct
  • Data Collection & Networking
  • Introduction to Professional Risk
  • Preparation for Professional Interview – RPV or CPV version
  • Professional Communication
  • Written Communication

The three prescribed electives for those seeking either RPV or CPV designation are:

  • Inspection, Recording and Measurement
  • Professional Standards
  • Risk Management Module Fundamentals - can be completed face to face or on-line


The elective modules include:

  • Corporate Real Estate
  • GST
  • Leases
  • Spatial Analysis

 

Each module should take between 2 and 3 hours to complete, however if additional reading is required, this should be considered in addition to the estimated completion time.

The Risk Management Modules take between 4 and 6 hours to complete and on successful completion of the module, participants can claim 4 CPD points.

On completion of each module, a participant can claim 2 CPD points. Participants can only enrol in 3 modules at any one time.

 

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF FPP

Participants completing the FPP program in its entirety have two attempts to successfully complete a module quiz. The pass mark for the quiz has been set at 80% and each quiz has a time limit associated with it (with the exception of RMM Fundamentals). The time is determine by the make-up of the quiz based on the number of questions, the type of questions and the number of different options within each question.

If the final of the assessment or quiz is unsuccessful, the participant will be required to re-enrol in the module. No discounts for re-enrolment are offered to those required to re-enrol.

 

APPROVED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Those seeking PMAPI (RPV) are required to hold a minimum of 12 months APE in valuation, prior to applying for Membership. Those seeking AAPI (CPV) are required to hold a minimum of 2 years APE in valuation prior to applying for Membership.

FPP REGISTRATION

Registrations for the FPP program can be made at any time by completing the FPP Registration Form and either emailing or faxing it back to API National Office. The Registration Form can be downloaded here.

As FPP is an on-line program, modules can be completed 24/7. All that is required is Internet access.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

As the Future Property Professionals (FPP) program is delivered in an on-line environment, enabling it to be accessed 24/7, no cancellations will be accepted. You can choose not to complete the module; however there will be no refund on offer for a module that is not completed. By registering for the FPP program, you agree to the cancellation policy outlined above.
