Graduates who have completed an API approved qualification are eligible to undertake the program.

Students who are currently completing their API approved University degree / TAFE qualification are eligible to commence the FPP program in their final year of study only, provided they have a minimum of twelve (12) months Approved Professional Experience (APE).

Implementation and Transitional Phase

The Future Property Professionals Program has been piloted in August and September 2011 and modules are now available for completion. This is an optional period for applicants to undertake the FPP program prior to the compulsory implementation of the program. The optional time period provides the opportunity for applicants to complete the modules at a heavily API subsidised rate, whilst accruing CPD points and gaining credits for when the modules become compulsory.

FPP will become a compulsory pathway to membership from 1 July 2012.

Transitional arrangements

Applicants are exempted from completing the requirements of the FPP program if they have graduated from an API approved qualification, have a minimum of twelve (12) months Approved Professional Experience and have applied for Membership prior to 30 June 2012.

Applicants who do not achieve this exemption will be required to complete the FPP program from the compulsory start date of 1 July 2012.

What are the requirements of Approved Professional Experience?

To be eligible to sit the Professional Interview for PMAPI (RPV) Designation, applicants are required to have completed a minimum of 12 months Approved Professional Experience in residential and associated valuation.

To be eligible to sit the Professional Interview for AAPI (Certification), applicants are required to have completed a minimum of 2 years Approved Professional Experience in their area of specialisation.

As of the 1st July 2012, all applicants will be required to ensure 6 months of the Approved Professional Experience is undertaken post-graduation of the approved qualification. Post-graduation is defined as the date the student receives the qualification academic transcript stating that they have successfully completed all requirements of the qualification (this is not the date the graduate receives their graduation certificate). As a result, as of 1 July 2012, applicants for Professional Interview will not be eligible to meet all the Approved Professional Experience requirements as a Student. Six months of the Approved Professional Experience requirements will be post-graduation.

Investment

The investment for FPP is $49 plus GST ($53.90 GST inclusive). This is a heavily subsidised rate by the API. The investment for the FPP program will be reviewed when the program becomes compulsory on 1 July 2012.

The Institute is happy to advise that the Module to assist applicants prepare for the Professional Interview: ‘Preparation for Professional Interview’ (whether for RPV or Certification) will be provided to FPP participants free of charge. This is a compulsory Module and important for participants to complete prior to sitting the Professional Interview.
