Q. I have just applied for provisional membership and aim to apply for RPV in March 2012, do I need to complete the FPP program?

A. No, the program is not compulsory, however you are invited to complete FPP on an optional basis if you wish.


 

Q. I am studying my final subject part-time at university, can I commence the FPP program now?

A. FPP has been designed to enhance the knowledge gained at University. If you are in your final year of studying an API approved degree, you can commence the FPP program, providing you have a minimum of twelve (12) months Approved Professional Experience (APE). .
 

Q. I have almost completed my two years of professional experience, do I still need to complete the FPP program?

A. No, you are not required to complete the FPP program providing you completed the requisite experience and have applied for membership prior to 30 June 2012.


Q. If I submit my application for PMAPI prior to July 2012, but don’t sit my interview until August 2012, will I be exempt from completing FPP?

A. Yes, providing the application has been received by your Divisional office prior to 30 June 2012.


Q. Is there any recognition of prior learning available?

A. There is no recognition of prior learning as such in the FPP program. However, dependent upon your level of Approved Professional Experience (APE), you may be eligible to complete either the assessment only portion of FPP for some modules, assessment only for all modules or the full FPP program.
Applicants with less than three years Approved Professional Experience will be required to complete the FPP Program in its entirety.

 Applicants with between three years and six years Approved Professional Experience will be required to complete the assessment only sections of the FPP Program.

 Applicants with more than six years Approved Professional Experience will be required to complete the assessment only section of 6 designated Modules of the FPP Program. .
 

Q. What is the cost per module?

A. The introductory cost per FPP module is $49 + GST. This rate is heavily subsidised by the Australian Property Institute (API) during the role out of the program. The investment per module will be reviewed when the program becomes compulsory on 1 July 2012.

One of the compulsory FPP modules, Preparation for Professional Interview, can be completed free of charge, in order to assist you in applying for Provisional Membership.
 

Q.  How long will each module take to complete?

A. Each module has varying levels of content. Some are very detailed and rigorous in nature, providing numerous examples and activities to complete. Other modules are more about learning through reading the content and applying the outcomes of the modules in your workplace. There is no definitive time required to sit a module, some may take a few hours, others will take considerably longer, if they are used to their full potential.

 

Q.   I have just completed an API approved qualification, but do not have any Approved Professional Experience (APE). If I complete the FPP program, will I still need to complete the APE?

A. Yes. An approved API qualification, Approved Professional Experience (APE)and the successful completion of the FPP program are all crucial elements in the pathway to membership. The FPP program does not replace the requirement for Approved Professional Experience (APE).
