The Australian Property Institute (API) offers a wide range of professional services to its members.

1. A voice for the property profession

The Australian Property Institute:

  • develops practice standards and guidance notes you can use in your profession.
  • provides a voice on property matters to Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments.
  • represents Australia on the International Valuations Standards Committee.
  • actively seeks your opinions on matters affecting the property industry.

2. Professional Development

  • The API conducts seminars and workshops in each API Division on a wide range of property topics.
  • CPD programs provide an opportunity to network with other industry peers while gaining important property information.
  • CPD events ensure API members are informed and knowledgeable in property and professional practice matters.

3. Publications

  • API publications, practice and guidance notes keep property professional up-to-date and informed.
  • Members are entitled to receive the Institute’s flagship publication, The Australia and New Zealand Property Journal, published four times a year, in March, June, September and December.
  • Members have access to a range of professional and educational texts such as Australia and New Zealand Property Valuation Standards and Valuation Principles and Practice.
  • A number of referred and selected texts are available in the API Book Shop.
  • Members receive the bi-monthly National E-newsletter and API Divisional newsletters.

4. Leading industry tools and information

  • The Institute has developed an industry leading software package, Property Pro, for its members to use in residential mortgage valuation work.
  • Industry updates in the form of technical notes and guidance notes.

5. Professional recognition

  • Membership to the Institute represents traits and qualities such as integrity, service orientation, experience, specialist expertise, and high levels of education and training.
  • Networking activities include meetings and social events such as the API Study Groups, national and state conferences and seminars.
  • Members are encouraged to join the API Boards and Committees which set the standards and guide the future of the industry and your business.
  • The API conducts the Excellence in Property Awards recognising the achievements of outstanding property professionals.
  • As a Member you are able to display and use the API logo, read more information or download application form.

  • The API is at the forefront of unifying entry and educational standards for the property profession worldwide.
  • The Institute is a leading member of the World Association of Valuation Organisations.
  • The API has reciprocity agreements with:
